Deschutes Brewery

Deschutes Header

What if you went to work thinking, “What rule can we rule out today? What sacred cow can we tip on its big, fat flank? What if the boss strode the halls urging: ‘put the kettle to the metal, people.'”

Welcome to the funhouse called Deschutes. Since 1988, they’ve been brewing a lineup of high-risk, high-reward beers from Bend in Oregon’s high desert. First for their own pub, then for a growing audience of beer fanatics.

With state-of-the-art tools, they produce craft brew icons like Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter. Then up the ante with bold, small batch experimentals like The Abyss, Hop Trip and The Dissident. All the while urging on their extended family of home and craft brewers everywhere.

“Please join us out here on the brewing limb. If you’re not slightly nervous, we’ve failed you.”

Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness.

ABV: 5.6%     IBU: 55
Malts: Pilsner, Wheat, Unmalted Wheat

Deschutes is taking you into the next beer frontier. Brewed with wheat and pilsner malt; this IPA displays beautiful citrus aromas from Cascade and Citra hops that meld with the esters of Belgian yeast. Think thirst quenching hopped-up wit beer with enough IBUs to warrant the IPA name.

Red Chair

Deschutes Red ChairABV: 6.2%     IBU: 60
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carapils, Pilsner, Carastan
Hops: Cascade, Centennial

The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

Mirror Pond Pale Ale

Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale AleABV: 5%     IBU: 40
Malts: Pale, NW Pale, Crystal, Carapils
Hops: Cascade

This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably “right.”

Black Butte Porter

Deschutes Black Butte PorterABV: 5.2%     IBU: 30
Malts: Pale, Carapils, Chocolate, Crystal, Wheat
Hops: Cascade, Bravo, Tettnang

With a dark beer as our first and flagship brand, Black Butte defined Deschutes as a radical player. A slight hop bitterness up front enhances the distinctive chocolate and roasted finish. It’s prized for its creamy mouthfeel and intense complex flavors.

Inversion IPA

Deschutes Inversion IPAABV: 6.8%     IBU: 80
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Munich, Caramel
Hops: Millennium, Horizon, Centennial, Northern Brewer, Cascade, Citra

Paradise is stumbling upon our whole flower hop room and inhaling. Inversion IPA is as close as you can get without knowing somebody.

Enter, if you will, all the glorious aromatic complexity of the hop. This big, bold IPA’s intense multi-hop kick gets a subtle dose of restraint from select Crystal and Carastan malts. For discriminating hop heads.

Fresh Squeezed IPA

Fresh Squeeze IPAABV: 6.4%     IBU: 60
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Munich
Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Nugget

This mouthwateringly delicious IPA gets its flavor from a heavy helping of citra and mosaic hops. Don’t worry, no fruit was harmed in the making of this beer.
