Tallgrass Brewing Company
Tallgrass Brewing Company is a microbrewery located in Manhattan KS that brews, cans, and kegs quality beers for people in the Great Midwest to enjoy.
One night, while discussing our future over dinner, my wife, Tricia, asked me the age-old question, “What do you want to do with the rest of your life?” I knew two things: I was tired of being a geologist, and I loved homebrewing beer. So, naturally, my answer was, “I want to start a microbrewery!” … And with the support of friends and family, Tallgrass Brewing Company was born. That was in 2006, and I have never looked back.”

A robust porter inspired by approximately true events…
Zombie Monkie is a dark, rich porter, carefully brewed for the post-apocalyptic world to come. Crafted with lots of roasty dark chocolate and specialty malts, then inoculated with enough hops to add a floral/citrus character in the finish. It’s hardy, complex, and interesting, because you might be drinking it for a long time. Zombie Monkie…

The beer foretold in legend. Six types of hops are gathered from the corners of the world to make this legendary brew. This is no earthly IPA. They will write ballads, build monuments, paint caves, and sacrifice goats to this beer. They will drink Ethos and dance to shake the heavens. The aroma is the harbinger of the tastes to come. Big, bright, and beautiful, this beer exceeds all expectations and grants wishes. Twice dry-hopped and brewed with the aid of a dark alliance from another realm, this beer bestows upon you all the complexity of the hops’ flavors without overwhelming your senses. Ethos IPA is a gift to you, beer mortals. Drink it and fulfill your destiny.
Tallgrass’s Pub Ale is a rich and mild brown ale in the tradition of great English pub ales. A blend of four specialty grains and malted two-row barley gives this beer its smooth character and lightly sweet flavor with just a hint of chocolate. This Ale was the first beer ever brewed by Tallgrass Brewing Company, however the can was redesigned in 2012 with a “retro” look to better reflect the beer’s pub ale roots.
Buffalo Sweat Vanilla Bean
ABV: 5.0% IBU: 20
The highly anticipated Buffalo Sweat Vanilla Bean has finally arrived. It’s the classic taste of the oatmeal stout with a twist. This new wonder is brewed with vanilla beans to give it a wonderful new flavor. We highly recommend you try some today!
More malty than West Coast IPAs, but hoppier than most East Coasters, this beer stays above the East Side-West Side American IPA fray that has brewed since the days of Tupac Shakur. Floral, earthy, with a little bit of citrus.
ABV: 6.3% IBU: 60
Malts: Caramel, Munich
Hops: Northern Brewer, Cascade, Amarillo, Willamette, Nugget
This cream stout tastes like liquid chocolate chip cookies made with espresso. We are not kidding. Yea, it is a weird name, but you won’t forget it or the taste of this beer. Buffalo Sweat is a very tasty stout.
ABV: 5.0% IBU: 20
Malts: Too many to list
Hops: Just one, a really good one
Slammed with hops, this beer is supported with a surprisingly sturdy malt backbone. Dry hopping adds that extra fresh hop character to this double ESB/IPAish beer, meant to be enjoyed with fellow hophead brothers and sisters.
ABV: 7.2% IBU: 93
Malts: Pale, Crystal, Caramunich
Hops: Columbus, Cascade, and Northern Brewer
8-Bit Pale Ale is spectacularly simple at first glance yet remarkably fun and complex when you get into it. Their Hop Rocket infuses the character of Austrailian grown Galaxy Hops into an American Pale Ale, giving a unique tropical, almost melon aroma in a classic American style.
ABV: 5.2% IBU: 40
Malts: 2 Row, Victory, Vienna & Munich
Hops: Magnum, Centennial, Cascade & Galaxy
This beer is a Belgian Tripel that lives up to its name. Smooth and carefully crafted like a fine velvet painting, but with an 8.5% ABV this bird has some spurs! The beer pours a golden straw color with brilliant clarity. Topped with a lofty pure white head the beer has a wonderful floral nose, with subtle fruit notes.
The taste is clean and crisp, with subtle fruit notes and a touch of candy like sweetness. The beer has a Champagne-like effervescent that provides a crisp offset to its sweet finish.
They start with raw Kansas white wheat in the mix to give it a nice edge, but what really makes it shine is the hops. They use “hop-bursting” late in the brewing process and this gives Halcyon its palate of tropical fruit flavors & aromas with a bright and refreshing taste like the best days of summer.
oh yea…Silver Medal in the wheat beer category at the US Beer Championships Woot! Woot!
